Grow your hair fast!! The INVERSION METHOD hairxperiment

Hi there,
I heard about this method some weeks ago and I have been dying to try it out, just to see if it actually works. I checked You tube and some other black hair care blogs and the claims were the same: Grow 1 inch of hair in just 7 days!!!! I knew I had to try it out. I was a little bit scared because all the blogs and vlogs kept cautioning anyone who cares to  try it about possible health risks and contra indications. After just the slightest bit of hesitation I gave in to my curiosity and I tried it out starting from 1st-7th October. It  felt like hard work and I was so glad when it ended.

The Inversion method
In simple terms this method is when You  reverse blood flow from other parts of your body to your head by inclining your head at a low angle coupled with a hot oil massage of your scalp. You can only do it for 7 consecutive days and no more than once every 4 weeks.

CAUTION:
Do not attempt if you are pregnant, have hernia, low or high blood pressure, heart or circulatory problems, glaucoma, conjunctivitis, spinal cord  injury, swollen joints, osteoporosis, unhealed fractures or injuries, an ear infection, are obese, or are otherwise unhealthy.

After checking that I had none of the aforementioned conditions I went ahead to:
  • Heat up some castor oil mixed with coconut oil
  • Then I massaged it into my entire scalp for 4 minutes
  • I lowered my head for 4 minutes over my kitchen sink as if I was going to wash it (Remember  the definition of  inversion?)
  • When I was done I put on a shower cap (ghe method) and went to bed
  • I washed with African black soap every 2 days because my hair felt really sticky and heavy
  • I did this for only7 days

The results
The claims were 1 inch of hair after 7 days so on the 7th day I eagerly did a length check and this is what I found

                                                                           Before

                                                                           After

After

                                                                        Before

                                                                             After

Did it work for me? To be honest I'm not sure. I can see an increase in length( or are my eyes deceiving me?) but it isn't 1 inch maybe a quarter of an inch or half in some places. I didn't follow the rules perfectly though (typical I sabi-pass-my-teacher Nigerian lol). Extra virgin olive oil is recommended but since I didn't have any I used castor oil mixed with coconut oil. I also didn't lean over a sink after the first 2 days( I felt the position wasn't hard enough) Instead I did one funny kind of lying-down-with-my-head-dangling-down-the-edge-of-the-sofa position the last 5 days. Will I give this method another chance? YES!! Only this time I will play by the rules. December seems like a good month to try again. Sadly I didn't comb or detangle my hair the entire period of this hairxperiment. After conditioning and shampooing I had a lot of tangles and single strand knots. I tried my best to detangle but I ended up with ALOT of breakage and shedding undoing all the
Imagined growth! :-(

I harvested this from my poor head :-(
I'm currently researching single strand knots and how to avoid them. I'll hopefully tell you about that next.

Ps.
Please do not try this method if you have any of the conditions listed above!

  3. No much different tho, I think it's meant for people who suffer from hair growth. I BCed in march and my hair is about 2 and a half times longer than yours, not just long but very full as well, I don't have to go through that risk, besides lots of good products that could help in that aspect rather than risking one's life!

  4. Lol! I thought of the sofa position before I read it in your post. I like the tone of your writing.

My natural is stubborn. I cnt be bothered about growing it as long as extentions don't go out of circulation.

  5. I'm trying this. Will do it monthly!!! Lol. I so want long natural hair. The one I did recently was to massage my hair with a beaten egg. Mehn it left my hair very very thick even after I washed it and mousturised it. Don't know why I did it. But I'm learning everyday and your blog is just amazing with practical tips.

  11. I did this last month for 6 days and experienced a full inch of growth...i did it to prove that it was crap and i ended up a believer. I massaged my scalp with coconut oil for about a minute then lay on my bed with my head hanging over for 4 minutes, that was all. I'm doing it again to see if it wasnt just a fluke lol

  12. It is the same concept as exercising. The point is to increase blood flow to your scalp. If you do floor exercises on a regular basis, you should reap the same benefits. But kudos to you for trying though!

DIY// HOW TO MAKE AN APPLICATOR BOTTLE

Hi guys,      I hope you are all doing well. I have missed blogging so much and I feel really good that I can now so it more often since my schedule is getting a bit less crowded. I also hope you like the new blog design.     If you live in Nigeria then you are aware that things are getting out of hand financially. The recession is hitting really hard and it seems no one is immune. How to create a a sleek faux bun with short natural hair!!!!

Hi people!    So its been a while since my last post and I apologize. I have been all kinds of busy but I have got something really cool for you all today. I haven't really done any hairstyle posts on this blog  because in my bid to retain length I just cornrow and throw on a wig. I have been doing that for months with the random Afro-puff thrown in once in awhile but this week I just wasn't  in the mood for any of my wigs. I decided to finally do something I have been dying to do: a faux bun!! Its super easy just follow the steps below and you'll be rocking your faux bun in a couple of minutes :-)                                                                                                Preparing my hair I stretched my hair with my cornrows first. I took out the braids then moisturised and sealed: My stretched hair  I sectioned my hair into 2 parts. I started from the front section. I added some Ecostyler gel, brushed it lightly with a toothbrush and pulled
