CHEAP TRICKS // HEAT BASED DEEP CONDITIONING WITHOUT A STEAMER/DRYER

Hi guys,      I hope you all are doing great. I have been thinking of how to make my blog better and I came up with a few ideas. I am thinking of introducing new series like the one above - cheap tricks which will feature once a month. It will contain tips and tricks I have learned along the way to make your hair journey much more affordable. I hope you will all benefit from it.    My first trick is: H eat based deep conditioning without a steamer or dryer . As you may know deep conditioning and heat (moist heat) go hand in hand.  Infact I am yet to find any deep conditioner that does not recommend conditioning with heat. For example SHEA MOISTURE'S DEEP TREATMENT MASQUE (which I have reviewed on this blog) recommends using heat for 30 minutes while ORS REPLENISHING CONDITIONER (review coming up soon) recommends 10-15 minutes with heat. Why you may ask. Well the heat opens up your cuticles which makes absorption of nutrients much mo...

HOW TO MAKE A FLORAL HEADBAND

Hi guys,    I am back and hopefully I will be better than before. Its a new year with new possibilities and I hope we all get to do our very best this year. As you all know I LURVE DIY!! If I could, I would change my middle name to DIY (although it would sound weird but who cares??? Lol) So the other day I was messing around with some stuff and I decided to create this super cute floral headband that I love so much. Here's how to make yours :   You'll Need I used a Nice sturdy Bra strap for this. Naughty me!!   Let's begin   Remove the flowers from the stems and if you wish to add leaves, remove them also. Arrange the flowers and leaves how you would like them to appear on the headband. Sew the first flower/leave on your line up on the head band. Ensure your stiches are barely visible on the flower/leave. If you are using regular elastic for this its best to sew the ends together be...

HEY 2015!!!!

Hello guys,   I know this post is laaate but hey, its better late than never right???  It seems like it was just yesterday I did my welcome to  2014 post. I cannot believe 2015 came so fast! I mean it was January 2014 just a few days ago right? Well 2015 is here so lets get to it. For starters I have absolutely no resolutions this year. Yes you read that right. I mean why do we even bother, when most times by the time February rolls by we have forgotten them all? I made 10 resolutions last year and I did pretty woefully so this year I am not making any.  Take a look at my  resolutions for 2014 hairwise + my end of year results and judge for yourself: 1. Deep condition every week... Failed 2. Alternate between Cowashing  and shampooing each week... Failed 3. No heat will be applied to my hair...Passed 4. Learn how to flat twist my hair...Failed woefully 5. Do a length check only once a month...Passed 6. Keep my hair in protectiv...

HAIR UPDATE- 18 M0NTHS NATURAL

Hi guys,    As I confessed in  this post , I was quite busy with a lot of stuff and as a result my hair was all but forgotten. I put my hair in cornrows and used wigs whenever I had to go out. I would spritz once in a while but deep conditioning, prepooing and  all other TLC was abandoned.  Added to the general neglect, I have been needing a trim for months and yet I did nothing because I was 'too busy'. Well my hair revolted!!!! :-(  I had tons of breakage, I mean I would run my hands down my hair and I would see little broken hairs on my palm. I FREAKED OUT big time and knew it was time to wake up from my coma. I did a self trim but first I took some update pictures: Looks like a lot of growth right? Well check out the back:   Hardly any progress at the back because that's where most of the breakage occurred. My ends were Sahara dry and there were quite a  few split hairs. I knew it was time to ...

MY NIFTY LITTLE APPLICATOR BOTTLE

Hi guys,     As you may have already deduced, caring for natural hair can be a full time job. There's the detangling, prepooing, oil rinsing, deep conditioning, moisturising , sealing etc. and these can get a little tedious. For this reason I am constantly looking for a way to make my hair life easier. While browsing in the hair section of a supermarket near me I found this: Mineral oil in an applicator bottle!!! At first glance its just a synthetic hair oil inside an white bottle, but it is much more than that. Infact when I found it on the shelf I was really really happy, so happy that I almost clapped. I wasn't happy because I found scented mineral oil (that's exactly what the product contains), I was happy because right in front of me was an applicator bottle which I have been wanting for a while. And the icing on the cake? It costs N150 only.  So what's the fuss about this bottle? Well take a look at that nozzle.. Diluted Sh...

LOST BUT FOUND AND A MINI TOOL HAUL

Hi Guys,      I am really sorry I have been away so long. I have been working on a project that leaves me extremely exhausted/drained/fatigued at the end of each day so blogging has not been on my to-do list for a while. I am back now and hopefully I wont be gone for long again.   All has been well with my hair although I have been neglecting it badly. I am in desperate need of a trim but I have been too busy to do it myself and the thought of someone else doing it gives me nightmares. I don't want to end up with a mini big chop after all my hard work and prayers lol. I have also abandoned hot oil treatments, prepooing and weekly deep conditioning...hmmm I smell a mane revolt coming up soon.   In other news,I got my sister in Texas to get me 3 hair tools I have been dying to have. Here they are in order of happifyingness (loooool): Wig Clips ;-)   I haven't installed a weave in a looong time. I shudder at the thought of a giant needle...
