HAIR UPDATE- 18 M0NTHS NATURAL

Hi guys,
As I confessed in this post, I was quite busy with a lot of stuff and as a result my hair was all but forgotten. I put my hair in cornrows and used wigs whenever I had to go out. I would spritz once in a while but deep conditioning, prepooing and  all other TLC was abandoned.  Added to the general neglect, I have been needing a trim for months and yet I did nothing because I was 'too busy'. Well my hair revolted!!!! :-(  I had tons of breakage, I mean I would run my hands down my hair and I would see little broken hairs on my palm. I FREAKED OUT big time and knew it was time to wake up from my coma. I did a self trim but first I took some update pictures:

Looks like a lot of growth right? Well check out the back:

Hardly any progress at the back because that's where most of the breakage occurred. My ends were Sahara dry and there were quite a  few split hairs. I knew it was time to let those ends go.
I decided to self trim rather than go get it done at the salon. I wouldn't recommend that because its really cumbersome and the risk of getting an uneven cut is really high. Still I decided to do it myself because I wanted total control. I have heard a few stories of how a little trim turned into a mini big chop and I was really terrified. I didn't straighten my hair for the trim but I stretched my hair with African threading in preparation. I didn't take any pictures of myself trimming the hair because I was alone at home and I found it  really difficult to hold on to the hair and scissors and still hold a camera(in my case my phone) so I gave up. I watched a YouTube video of Whitney(Naptural85) self trimming and did practically the same thing. I shampooed and deep conditioned my hair  immediately after trimming. The breakage hasn't stopped yet because I see a stray piece or two each time I work on my hair but its only been 2 weeks so I'm hoping things get better with constant TLC.

Thanks for stopping by...

KimB

DIY// HOW TO MAKE AN APPLICATOR BOTTLE

Hi guys,      I hope you are all doing well. I have missed blogging so much and I feel really good that I can now so it more often since my schedule is getting a bit less crowded. I also hope you like the new blog design.     If you live in Nigeria then you are aware that things are getting out of hand financially. The recession is hitting really hard and it seems no one is immune. Inspite of this I do not want my Fro to suffer so I am working on making a lot of homemade products and utensils to ensure my hair doesn't feel the strain of the harsh economy.    Today I will be showing you how to make an APPLICATOR bottle from any old plastic bottle you have at home. How to create a a sleek faux bun with short natural hair!!!!

Hi people!    So its been a while since my last post and I apologize. I have been all kinds of busy but I have got something really cool for you all today. I haven't really done any hairstyle posts on this blog  because in my bid to retain length I just cornrow and throw on a wig. I have been doing that for months with the random Afro-puff thrown in once in awhile but this week I just wasn't  in the mood for any of my wigs. I decided to finally do something I have been dying to do: a faux bun!! Its super easy just follow the steps below and you'll be rocking your faux bun in a couple of minutes :-)                                                                                                Preparing my hair I stretched my hair with my cornrows first. I took out the braids then moisturised and sealed: My stretched hair  I sectioned my hair into 2 parts. I started from the front section. I added some Ecostyler gel, brushed it lightly with a toothbrush and pulled
